Allan Gordon Bell is a composer who has created works for solo instruments, chamber ensembles, orchestra, band, and electroacoustic media as well as an opera. His music has been performed by soloists, ensembles and orchestras throughout North America, Europe and Asia. He is Professor of Music and was the Interim Director of the new School of Creative and Performing Arts at the University of Calgary, an Associate Composer and Past-President of the Canadian Music Centre, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and a Member of the Order of Canada. He is the recipient of the 2014 JUNO Award for Classical Composition of the Year for his piece entitled Field Notes.
